Championing, Supporting, Transforming
I have a heart for developing compassionate relationships with my clients and championing them through their therapeutic work. Seeing the transformation of those I serve, be it through therapy or educational awareness and support, has been the most rewarding part of my 40 year career. My unique experiences allow me to specialize in three areas which provides clients with a broad range of perspectives.
My first area of expertise is in educational counseling and advocacy. My work experiences give me the capacity to draw from the perspective of the student, the parent, the classroom/subject teacher, the counselor, and the administration. I taught K-12 students with varying disabilities for eight years and counseled K-12 gifted students in the Rockwood School District for 32 years. Within this venue I have worked with nearly 10,000 students and their families.
My second area of expertise is working with individuals of all ages and with families on various mental health issues and concerns. My empathic and solution-based therapeutic approach takes into consideration the needs of the client and embraces learning through self and other awareness, teaching how changing the way you think can change the way you feel and by championing clients on their journey to achieve identified goals.
Lastly, sharing my expertise is foundational in my commitment to the service of others. I have presented both locally and nationally on a wide range of topics. Recently I have developed several dynamic presentations/workshops in areas which have received the most request for advocacy and support services such as ADHD, Autism, Executive Functioning, Anxiety, Communication, Gifted, and QPR Suicide Training (certified).
I am continually engaged in my own personal growth and professional learning so that I can bring my clients the best therapeutic support and related services.
